The Seneca Royals Baseball team fought through a changing schedule due to weather to earn a pair of conference victories this past week.

The Royals traveled to Cazenovia last Monday, April 20 to take on the Weston Silver Eagles. The Royals jumped out to a 4-0 lead thanks to two runs in the first inning and one run in both the third and fourth innings before the hosts rallied with a run in the bottom of the sixth and two in bottom of the seventh inning but ultimately fell short as the Royals closed the door on a 4-3 victory.

Sam Gallagher (one run allowed on three hits and one walk with eight strikeouts in 6.0 innings pitched) got the win while Kaden Roberts (two runs allowed (both unearned) on one hit and one walk with one strikeout in 1.0 inning pitched) got the save in relief of Gallagher.

The Royals offense had nine hits in the win, including multiple hit games by Gallagher (2-for-3) and Jax Wall (2-for-3 with one RBI). Roberts (1-for-4 with a double and one run scored), Gage Wall (1-for-4 with one run scored), Jackson Konichek (2-for-3 with one run scored and two RBIs) and Basil Hall (1-for-3 with one run scored) all had a hit in the win for Seneca.

Seneca welcomed Kickapoo to town last Friday in a rescheduled game (the Royals game at Lancaster was cancelled to make room) and they quickly found themselves in a 3-0 hole after a half inning. The Royals were unable to get any runs across until the bottom of the fourth inning when the offense scored five times to take a 5-4 lead they would never relinquish. Seneca would add a run in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth inning before closing the door on a 9-3 win over the visiting Panthers.

Roberts started on the mound for the Royals, allowing three runs (zero earned) on three hits and one walk with five strikeouts in 2.0 innings pitched. Konichek pitched in relief of Roberts and allowed zero runs on three hits and one walk with five strikeouts in 4.1 innings pitched to earn the win. J. Wall got the final two outs of the game on just three pitches to end the game.

The Royals had one hitter with multiple hits in the game and that was Jax Wall (2-for-2 with a double, a walk and one run scored). Hagensick (1-for-3 with a triple, one walk, one run scored and one RBI), Sawyer Swiggum (1-for-4 with a double and one run scored), Konichek (1-for-4 with a double and one run scored), G. Wall (1-for-4 with a triple, one run scored and three RBIs) and Gallagher (1-for-3 with two runs scored) each had one hit in the win.

Seneca improved to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the Ridge & Valley Conference with the wins. Following last night’s rescheduled game at home against North Crawford, the Royals are back in action at La Farge on Monday, May 4 at 5 p.m.
