Much like their conference rivals from Seneca, the Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets Track & Field team traveled to a pair of meets this past week. Again, much like with Seneca, the first meet of the week for the Hornets was at the Lee Griffin Invitational at Kickapoo High School last Tuesday, April 21. The Hornet boys placed 15th with 5.0 points, while the girls team placed 12th out of 15 teams with 11.0 points.
Wauzeka-Steuben earned points in these events -
Boys 400 Meter Dash - 4. Julius Cooley (54.70).
Girls 400 Meter Dash - 5. Isabella Bunders (1:08.04).
Girls High Jump - T-2. Alayna Martin (5-00.00).
Wauzeka-Steuben finished the week two days later by making the trek to Royall High School for the Gerard Brunner Invitational where the boys team placed 11th with 1.0 point and the girls team finished seventh with 17.0 points.
The Hornets earned points in these events -
Boys 110 Meter Hurdles - 8. Cooley (20.38).
Girls 1600 Meter Run - 3. Martin (7:03.55).
Girls High Jump - 2. Martin (J4-10.00).
Girls Triple Jump - 6. Brynlee Benoy (27-03.25).
The Hornets are back in action at North Crawford tomorrow night, River Ridge on Friday night and then at Riverdale on Saturday morning.
