The Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets girls basketball team wasted little time last Tuesday, Jan. 27 recovering from their first conference loss of the season at the hands of De Soto the prior week by jumping out to a 35-11 halftime lead on the visiting Weston/Ithaca Silver Eagles.
The visitors managed to outscore the Hornets 23-22 in the second half but Wauzeka-Steuben still walked away with a 57-34 victory.

The Hornets concluded the week three nights later when they made the journey down to Cassville High School to take on the Potosi/Casssville Chieftains co-op.
The Hornets had three players reach double figures in scoring in the win, with senior Isabella Bunders leading the way with a near triple-double of 19 points, 12 rebounds and six assists.
Macy Mitchell and Abby Wright each scored 12 points in the win, while Violet Mitchell (nine points), Claire Wright and Hayley Mitchell (four points each) rounded out the scoring tally for W-S. Hayley Mitchell also grabbed 10 rebounds in the win.
Wauzeka-Steuben improved thier season record to 15-3 overall with the two wins.
The Hornets head to Kickapoo this Thursday, Feb, 5 before traveling with the boys team to Prairie du Chien this Saturday night for a doubleheader against the Hawks at the PdC Fieldhouse starting at 6 p.m.
