Returning to the court for the first competition since falling at River Ridge on Dec. 15, the Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets boys basketball team was “rewarded” by their schedule with a game last Tuesday, Jan. 6 at the second ranked team in D5 in the Kickapoo Panthers. The host Panthers delivered a tough 70-25 loss to the visiting Hornets. Final stats from the game were not available as of press time.

The Hornets finished their week with a trek up to Seneca High School last Friday night. The host Royals defeated the Hornets 70-48. Despite outscoring the Royals 41-24 in the second half, it still wasn’t enough to catch Seneca (4-6, 1-1 in the Ridge & Valley Conference) thanks to  a 46-7 first half by the Royals. Final stats for the Hornets (1-5, 1-1 in the Ridge & Valley Conference) were not available as of press time.

The Hornets face a tough schedule this week with three games in four days. Following games at Ithaca and at home vs. Potosi/Cassville the last two nights, the Hornets welcome La Farge to Wauzeka tomorrow night for a 7:15 p.m. game at Wauzeka-Steuben High School.
