Royals get pair of wins to extend win streak

Returning to the court last Tuesday, Feb. 10, the Seneca Royals boys basketball team defeated the La Farge/Youth Initiative co-op 57-44.

Senior Hunter Hagensick led the Royals in scoring with 23 points to go along with seven rebounds. Fellow senior Jackson Konichek add 16 points and a team-high 15 rebounds. Rounding out the Royals scoring tally was senior Gage Wall (eight points), senior Kaden Roberts (five points), junior Owen George (three points) and senior Carson Sime (two points).

Seneca headed to Wauzeka-Steuben two nights later and left with a 59-37 win over the Hornets. Konichek was the leading scorer (19 points) and leading rebounder (nine rebounds). Hagensick and G. Wall both scored 10 points while Sime (eight points), Roberts (five points), Jaxx Wall (four points) and Basil Hall (three points).

The Royals improved to 9-10 overall and 5-6 in the conference with the win.

Seneca traveled to La Farge this past Tuesday night before returning home this Friday night, Feb. 20 as Ithaca comes to town in a game with potential playoff seeding ramifications.
