Sitting with a Six Rivers conference record of 4-8 and an overall mark of 9-10, the River Ridge girls’ basketball team suffered a 61-26 loss to visiting Shullsburg last Tuesday night, but followed up with a 42-41 victory over host Black Hawk three nights later.
Coach Michael DiPadova’s Timberwolves hosted an aggressive Shullsburg squad last Tuesday night, where they trailed the Miners 30-15 at the half before being outscored 31-11 in the second half.
Nothing came easy for the Timberwolves, who got a team-high eight points from sophomore guard Adayah Groom, along with six points from fellow sophomore Ava Nies and five from junior Erin Adrian.
The trio of Hailey Alt, McKinley Russell and Isabelle Wiegel combined to score 37 points for the Miners, as Russell scored a team-high 16 points, followed by Wiegel with 12 and Alt nine.
On the following Friday night, River Ridge traveled to South Wayne, where they handed the host Warriors a 42-41 conference crossover loss.

Following this past Tuesday night’s non-conference contest against visiting Riverdale, the Lady Timberwolves will host Highland Thursday night, then will host Belmont on Tuesday, Feb. 10.
