Shooting 64.4 percent from the field and 78 percent from the free throw line, host River Ridge slid by Shullsburg last Friday night in Six Rivers West boys’ basketball action.
With the win, coach Dan Moris’ Timberwolves improved to 8-7 in conference action and 14-6 overall, and currently sits third behind Potosi/Cassville (12-1, 14-6) and Belmont (12-2, 18-2) in the Six Rivers West conference standings.
After trailing the host Miners 35-33 at the intermission, the Timberwolves outscored their opponent 42-35 in the second half to collect a five-point victory.
They concluded the contest making 29-of-45 (64.4 percent) total shot attempts, including 3-of-10 (30 percent) from 3-point range. They were 14-of-18 (77.8 percent) from the charity stripe, outscored the Miners 50-20 in the paint and 15-4 in transition.
Leading the charge for River Ridge was senior guard Brandon Davis, who finished with a game-high 33 points on 12-of-16 shooting from the floor and a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line. Davis also pulled down seven rebounds, dished out three assists and came away with six steals.
Noah Copsey chipped in 11 points, followed by Lane Copsey and Jackson White with seven each. White also pulled down seven rebounds and dished out three assists, while both Noah and Lane Copsey had two steals.
Following this past Tuesday night’s home game against Potosi/Cassville, the Timberwolves will host Pecatonica this Friday night, then will host Argyle next Monday evening.
