The Prairie du Chien Blackhawks Boys Wrestling team hit the road twice this past week for a pair of events.
First up for the Hawks was a dual meet at Iowa-Grant/Highland last Thursday, Jan. 22. The Host IG/H Panthers picked up nine wins, including five via pinfall to defeat the Hawks 49-26.
PdC got wins from Keaton Achenbach (106), Hunter Reid (120), Porter Kossman (144), Mason Hird (150) and Jack Simmons (215).
Prairie du Chien finished the week two days later when they traveled to Fort Atkinson for the annual Terry Kramer Open. The Hawks finished in seventh place out of 16 teams with 150.5 points.
Hird went 4-0 at 150 pounds to claim the Hawks’ sole championship on the day. PdC also had a pair of runner-ups in Simmons (215) and Jake Kramer (165) and a pair of third place finishers in Reid (120) and Brylee Brewer (138). Also placing in the top five at their respective weight classes for the Hawks was Tyson Fernette (11) and Kossman (144).
The Hawks were back on the mats last night when they welcomed Caledonia/Houston to Prairie du Chien High School for sponsor/youth night.
Prairie du Chien ends the week this Saturday, Jan. 31. with the SWAL-SWC Clash Tournament at Richland Center with wrestling scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
