PdC Girls Wrestling does well at three meets

The Prairie du Chien girls wrestling team started a busy stretch of three meets in three days last Thursday night when they hosted Onalaska in their only home meet of the season.

The Hawks won six of the dual meet’s seven match to claim a 35-6 dual victory. Earning wins for the Hawks were Alyseia Schnitzler (100), Kylee Langdon (114), Aspen Gelo (120), Lyla Redman (145), Britney Petsche (165) and Aleaha Wall (185). Those who won via pinfall were Gelo in 1:35 and Petsche in 3:54.

The Hawks traveled to Boscobel the next night for the SWAL-SWC Girls Wrestling Clash. The name was a bit of a misnomer however as the meet also included girls teams from the Ridge & Valley, Six Rivers and Scenic Bluffs Conferences. Prairie du Chien scored 91.5 points to finish in fourth place out of 20 teams.

Also competing at the tournament were North Crawford/Seneca (tied for 10th place with 44 points) and Boscobel/Wauzeka-Steuben (tied for 15th place with 20.0 points).

Leading the way for  the Hawks was  a trio of runner-up finishes from Hannah Ingham (2-1 at 126 pounds), Schnitzler (2-1 at 100 pounds) and Petsche (3-1 at 165 pounds).

Also placing for Prairie du Chien was Langdon (fourth place at 114 pounds with a 2-2 record), Gelo (fifth place at 120 pounds with a 3-2 record) and Redman (seventh place at 145 pounds with a 1-2 record).

The Hawks wrapped up their week this past Saturday at the Richland Center Girls Invitational. Despite only having four girls entered into the meet, PdC still managed to finish in a tie with Richland Center for third place out of 13 teams with 71.0 points. Ingham (2-1 at 126 points), Langdon (2-1 at 114 pounds) and Schnitzler (2-1 at 100 pounds) all finished as runner-up in their respective bracket, while Redman (1-3 at 145 pounds) placed fourth.

PdC finished their regular season schedule this past Monday night when they competed at the Holmen Girls Scramble.The Hawks will start the postseason this Friday afternoon  at the WIAA Regional Meet at Richland Center starting at 3:30 p.m.
