PdC girls hoops split pair of games

The Prairie du Chien girls basketball team opened last week the same way they ended the week before, with a home game against a highly ranked opponent. 

The Hawks welcomed the second ranked team in D5 in the Argyle/Pecatonica Orioles to the Prairie du Chien Fieldhouse last Tuesday, Jan. 13. Despite shooting 18 percent from the field on 4-of-22 shooting from the three-point line, the Orioles still managed to shoot 53 percent (33-of-62) overall from the field en route to handing the Hawks a 73-28 loss. 

Complete stats from the game were not available as of press time but the loss dropped the Hawks season record to 2-8 overall, while Argyle/Pecatonica improved to 12-1 overall.

Prairie du Chien traveled to Richland Center three nights later on Friday, Jan. 16 to take on the Hornets in SWC competition and the Hawks came back with a 49-43 loss. Stats from this game were also not available as of press time. Prairie du Chien improved their season record to 3-8 overall and 1-4 in the SWC, while Richland Center fell to 3-14 overall and 0-5 in the SWC.

The Hawks were back on the home court this past Tuesday night, Jan. 20 when they welcomed Cuba City to town before traveling to Spring Green this Thursday to face off against River Valley with game time scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
