Local girls wrestle at Lancaster invite

A pair of local girls wrestling teams traveled to Lancaster High School last Monday, Jan. 12 for the nine-team Lancaster Girls Invitational. Taking home first place honors as a team with seven wrestlers and 130.0 points was Prairie du Chien, while Boscobel/Wauzeka-Steuben placed sixth with 57.0 points.

Placing first individually for the Hawks was Alyseia Schnitzler (100), Aspen Gelo (120) and Britney Petsche (165). Also placing for Prairie were Hannah Ingham (third at 126), Paytin Primmer (fourth at 132-138), Lyla Redman (third at 145) and Aleaha Wall (fourth at 235). Boscobel/Wauzeka-Steuben was led by a runner-up finish at 235 by Ava Roth. The co-op was also represented by Ali Jelinek (third at 107-114), Alayna Krachey (third at 120) and Tatum Brudos (fourth at 165).

The Hawks are back in action this Thursday evening when they travel to Mineral Point for a triangular with Mount Horeb and Mineral Point with duals starting at 5:30 p.m.

Boscobel/Wauzeka-Steuben ended the week at the Postville Girls Invitational last Friday, Jan. 16 and the Westby Invitational last Saturday, Jan. 17. At the Postville Girls Invite on Friday, the Bulldogs placed 10th with 40.0 points. Jelinek led the Bulldogs with a second place finish at 105 while Roth (fourth at 190), Brudos (fifth at 170) and Krachey (fifth at 120) also placed for Boscobel/Wauzeka-Steuben.

The next day at the Westby Invitational, the Bulldogs placed 11th as a team with 36.0 points. Jelinek (107) and Roth (185) each placed third, while Krachey was fifth at 120.

The Bulldogs will be back on the mats on Tuesday, Jan. 27 by hosting a triangular with Iowa-Grant/Highland and Lancaster.
