The Prairie du Chien Board of Education moved forward with selling two of the district's houses during the Nov. 10 meeting.

But before that, the board outlined important dates for the spring elections. Two board members, Lonnie Achenbach and Board President Nick Gilberts, are up for re-election.

The deadline for incumbents to file a notice of non-candidacy is Dec. 26 by 5 p.m.

Candidates must file all paperwork to declare their eligibility in the election by Jan. 6 at 5 p.m. On Jan. 12, lots will be drawn to establish ballot order.

House sales

The board approved a realtor proposal to manage the sale of two properties, known as the “White” and “Blue” houses, owned by the district.

District Administrator Andy Banasik said the RFP process was completed the previous Wednesday (Nov. 5).

Three realtors submitted proposals to the district. Kramer Auction Service's proposal received approval. Re/Max and Adams Auction and Real Estate were the other two candidates.

The "Red House" will stay with the district since it is still used for the alternative education program. Currently, the program hosts five students, according to GEDO/Mighty River Principal Mike Liddell.

Dual credit

Banasik also announced that the district received a platinum-level participation award for their dual credit programs during the 2024-25 school year.

Platinum is the highest rating available recognition a school can attain.

"What we do is unbelievable," said Banasik. "This is the fifth year in a row that we've gotten platinum. No other school has gotten one platinum award yet."

A platinum award requires student enrollment in three or more dual credit programs and 65 percent or more high school student participation. Prairie du Chien has students enrolled in three programs and 80 percent participation amongst its high school students.

Twenty-three schools have transcripted credit course agreements with Southwest Technical College.

In attendance were board members Nick Gilberts, Noah White, Lacie Anthony, Michael Higgins, Jr., Lonnie Achenbach and Kyle Maahs. Dustin Brewer was absent. Banasik, Waller, Liddell and the district principals were also in attendance.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Dec. 8.
